We specialize in providing hand-picked, locally owned hotels in large and small cities, as well as hard-to-find-options for experienced travelers at the best values.Job Profile and DescriptionThe Air Ticketing Specialist is required to have the knowledge base to be able to perform duties in Amadeus GDS system. Perform the daily air related processes and conform to the Company's objectives and policies. The Air Ticketing Specialist would be responsible for working directly with Avanti Reservation staff, and ticketing contract and published air, working schedule changes, refunds and exchanging of airline tickets.Air Ticketing Specialists are required to meet Avanti's quality standards and accuracy levels to achieve company goals and support all functions within the Call Center.This is a Full-Time position eligible for participation in a comprehensive company benefits & perks program. Avanti offers low-cost medical and dental coverage, paid-time off, paid holidays, reduced cost Tri-Met passes (benefit eligibility begins at the beginning of the month following 60 days of employment).Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesKnowledge of a GDS system – be able to transfer to AmadeusUnderstand airline contracts and best practice rules on booking airline airfaresWorking schedule changes within the rules of the different airlinesWorks with the reservation department regarding air booking questions or issuesResponds to Customer Service regarding past air questions and issuesMaintains and projects the Company's professional reputation.Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and working relationships with area personnel and with management.Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and significant problems.Attends and participates in educational trainings, opportunities and meetings as required.Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.Assists and trains other departments as necessary.Performs related clerical duties as needed.Keeps work area clean, secure, and well maintained.Actively and professionally cross sells Company products and services.Requirements, Skills and Experience (Minimal standards to successfully perform the job)Excellent communication skills: verbal, listening and writtenGDS experience – Amadeus preferred3 years' experience working on a GDS air system would be preferredHave excellent multi-tasking, problem solving, complaint resolution and negotiation skillsProven record of building relationshipsPossess strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite and internet browserAble to react effectively and calmly in emergenciesAble to maintain customer confidentialityHighly organized and detail-orientedWillingness to work and be available for overtime hours as neededPhysical Activities and RequirementsFINGER DEXTERITY: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.TALKING: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.AVERAGE HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery (copy machine, keyboard, etc.).PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.Mental Activities and RequirementsREASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two-digit numbers; the four basic arithmetic operations with money; and operations with units such as inch, foot, yard; ounce, and pound (or their metric counterparts).LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; read at a slow rate; and define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation. Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and using adjectives and adverbs.
