The student nurse trainee will be assigned to a designated unit and partnered with a patient care assistant until training completion. Students must commit to a two-week orientation period. Student nurse trainee will be expected to work 12 hours per quarter in order ensure they are up to date with organizational procedures and processes to continue in the program. Our student nurse trainee program is a wonderful way for a student in an ASN or BSN program, who has completed their first clinicals, to gain experience in a clinical setting. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Nurses in the 16-bed multidisciplinary, mixed acuity unit care for patients with complex multisystem health issues. Patients who need general, emergency general, trauma or oncology surgery or surgical specialties such as thoracic, urology, orthopedics and colorectal are admitted to this unit. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Nursing student of an accredited Nursing Program and one clinical rotation, or a Graduate Nurse without Boards required. WHY PENN STATE HEALTH?
