We provide multiple delivery systems in design-build, bid-build, public/private-partnerships and design-build finance.Hubbard Construction's parent company, Vinci, operates through a network of 330 agencies and 770 production sites, in 17 countries around the world.General Description.The Senior Estimator is responsible for the preparation and review of assigned roadway construction estimate packages, implementing department standards and procedures while ensuring the accuracy and completeness of estimate packages. Company primarily performs construction activities involving roadway construction/highway work, asphalt paving, maintenance of traffic, bridge construction, earthwork, drainage and wet utilities.Key Duties and Responsibilities.Provide supervision and mentoring to estimators and junior estimators.Lead large estimates while coordinating other estimators.Experience with state DOTs and municipalities.Read/review/understand all pertinent project related documents necessary to develop a complete and compliant estimate/bid package.Produce detailed thoughtful estimates illustrating completeness and competitiveness ready for review with management.Solicit/evaluate estimates from various subcontractors and vendors to prepare estimates.Prepare reports and risk analysis pertinent to estimating as requested by management.Review historical labor, equipment, and material costs, for preparation of accurate estimates.Prepare estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings.Assess project exposures/construction risks and appropriately analyze cost and reflect these in an estimate.Identify potential construction issues through the estimating process.Identify value-engineering alternatives. Negotiated project experience preferred, including technical writing skills.Other duties as assigned.General.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Essential Duty and Responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Knowledge, Skills and Attributes.Working experience on HCSS software or other equivalent estimating software.Must be able to verbally communicate effectively, as well as written correspondence.Working knowledge of asphalt laydown and/or roadway construction operations.Must be able to interpret blueprints and written specifications.Attention to detail, including interpretation and preparation of spreadsheets and other data.Education and/or Experience. This is not an entry-level position.Requires a minimum of 10 years of experience as an Estimator bidding asphalt paving and/or roadway construction projects. A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent experience is required. Experience working for a General Contractor as an estimator bidding on Department of Transportation or other roadway projects between $10M and $200M required.Experience with nontraditional delivery methods (design/build, progressive, conceptual estimating).Physical Demands. Frequent ability to sit for prolong periods of time.Ability to drive a company vehicle, requires a valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle report.Frequent ability to talk and hear, both in person and by telephone.Frequent ability to operate standard office equipment, using hand and arm dexterity.Frequent ability to navigate through office environment, including periodic use of stairs and/or elevator, as needed.Infrequent ability to lift general office documents and materials, up to 10 pounds.Frequent vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment.The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Senior Estimator encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.Work generally is performed in an office environment, although periodic visits to construction sites are required. Noise level in the typical office work environment is quiet; however, when visiting construction sites and/or asphalt manufacturing facilities, various levels of noise, dust and other environmental exposures may occur; any exposure is within the established Permissible Exposure Limits, however Personal protective Equipment such as hardhats, hearing protection and safety glasses, may be required.
