Linux Systems Administrator

Job TitleSummary of Qualifications:BA / BS degree in (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline) preferred or 6-8 years of equivalent work experience in related technical disciplines.Advanced degree a plus.The minimum years of experience may be reduced for a candidate who has previously and continuously demonstrated highly effective performance.Expertise with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Word.SAP a plus.In depth understanding of applicable products and/or services and of client needs and expectationsRequired Skills & Experience:5+ years of Linux server administration (Red Hat and SUSE), including command-line, patching, upgrades, and software install/deploy capabilities.Hands-on experience with Rocket Enterprise Server (formerly Micro Focus) - administering the platform that hosts COBOL workloads on Linux.Exposure to Rocket Enterprise Developer (sufficient familiarity to support the environment, even though the role is admin-focused).AWS experience - solid understanding of operating Linux workloads in an AWS environment.Strong, independently motivated approach to maintaining systems, documenting environments, and problem-solving.Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.Additional experience a bonus:DB2 and Teradata interface experience.Background supporting mainframe-to-cloud lift-and-shift migrations.Comfort with COBOL, JCL, and control cards in a modernized Linux context.
