General Summary of Position MedStar Health is looking for an Speech Language Pathologist Per Visit to join our team at MedStar Health Home Care! The ideal candidate will be a licensed Speech Language Pathologist with excellent clinical and communication skills. The Speech Language Pathologist Per Visit will provide evaluation and speech-language pathology treatment in accordance with agency standards, the laws and regulations governing the provision of speech-language pathology services in the State of Maryland, District of Columbia, or Virginia, and other regulatory requirements. Primary Duties Arranges for specialized assessments that cannot be conducted in the home environment (e.g., audiological testing, video fluoroscopy studies) and plans adequately for discharge, including referrals to appropriate community resources. Communicates with a supervisor as scheduled and as needed regarding issues related to the delivery of rehab services and individual patient care. Maintains effective working relationships with other departments and participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams, meetings, and committees; represents the department and agency in community outreach efforts. Maintains ongoing communication with the patient's physician, health care team, and other individuals (e.g., insurance case managers, referring facility personnel) regarding aspects of care and patient status. Provides assessment and recommendations for adaptive equipment and/or home modifications that maximize functional abilities and safety; assists in attaining reimbursable durable medical equipment. Provides initial and periodic assessments to determine the patient's habilitation/rehabilitation needs. Establishes an effective speech-language pathology/dysphasia treatment plan with the patient, family/caregiver, physician, and other health care team members and modifies the plan as needed. Conducts evaluations including interview, observation, palpation, specialized assessments (dysphasia assessment, oral motor exam, receptive/expressive language assessment). Uses appropriate tools such as sphygmomanometer, stethoscope. Provides medical record entries according to agency standards, professional guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Provides patient and/or caregiver education regarding injury/disease process, functional limitations, and treatment interventions; trains caregivers in care aspects after discharge. Provides speech-language pathology/dysphasia services in accordance with the treatment plan, agency standards, and other professional and regulatory guidelines. Performs procedures and modalities, including associative language exercises, oral motor exercises, aural rehab, and thermal stimulation. Supervises home health aides in aspects of patient care and related activities. Qualifications Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. 1-2 years of clinical experience. License to practice Speech-Language Pathology in the State of Maryland or Virginia, or Certificate of Competency by ASHA if working in the District of Columbia; other combinations based on work location(s). CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) certification. Valid State Driver's License in good standing. Salary Range This position has a hiring range of $89,065 - $162,801. #J-18808-Ljbffr MedStar Health
