Location: Harriman, TN, US Company: Black & Veatch Family of Companies (Black & Veatch Quality Control) Job Summary As part of the BV Construction group, you will develop and enhance your skills in an on‑site, hands‑on environment. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining the project quality plans and procedures, acting as an interface between project sites, procurement inspections, corporate offices, and clients. You will manage site QC staff and oversee various testing and inspection activities to ensure compliance with codes, specifications, and client requirements. Key Responsibilities Establish, implement, and maintain the site quality program. Coordinate with engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, regulatory representatives, and field personnel to ensure correct workmanship. Ensure on‑site work meets applicable codes and specifications. Surveillance and audit contractor quality control programs. Manage all aspects of welder qualification on‑site testing. Issue, control, and coordinate Post‑Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) and Non‑Destructive Examination (NDE) contacts. Develop inspection plans and track inspections/actions identified. Approve site testing such as soils testing, concrete placement, grout breaks, hydro tests, and NDE testing; verify proper documentation. Review and control documentation for certification of construction and testing equipment. Review turnover packages prior to handoff to Startup. Assist in coordinating punch‑list walk‑downs/inspections; manage the punch‑list. Collate QC documentation for final handover to the owner. Interface with clients and government officials. Develop and implement quality programs that support company and division quality goals. Act as a quality consultant for internal and external clients, and as a temporary project fill‑in when required. Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports. Act as a mentor to other quality professionals. Implement safety, quality, ethical standards, lessons learned, and adhere to performance management programs. Support continuous improvement and change management efforts related to quality improvements. Serve as an individual contributor with no subordinates or supervise work of others, responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of subordinates. Management Responsibilities Individual Contributor Minimum Qualifications 3+ years as a Superintendent with a degree, or 5+ years without. Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, including background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle records search, as required by law. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Engineering, Quality, Business or Construction Management degree or relevant apprenticeship. Knowledge of quality standards and practices, construction technology, EPC industry, constructability, Erection Drawings, GA’s, P & ID’s and isometrics, National and International Codes and Standards, and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, project budget and tools, project controls, risk assessment/management, administrative policies, construction project management systems, and contract administration. Strong communication, conflict management, leadership, multi‑tasking, problem‑solving, project management, and time‑reporting skills. Ability to effectively interface with client and government officials and manage emergency situations. Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software and ability to write detailed reports. Human relations, mentorship, and change‑management skills. Certifications Certification in a relevant discipline (e.g., AWS CWI, ISM) or a geographically equivalent certification is desired. Work Environment & Physical Demands Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds. Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in confined or cluttered areas and uneven terrains. Use both hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls as required. Perform repetitive movements and work above 5 feet in height. Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. Work up to 12‑hour shifts under varying temperatures and external conditions. Typical Work Environment Construction site: cramped spaces, awkward positions, extreme temperatures, inclement weather, bright or low lighting, noise, hazardous equipment. Office environment as applicable. Safety‑sensitive position.
