EVS Associate

Job Overview Location: BLH Bronson LakeView Hospital Title: EVS Associate Under the supervision of the environmental services manager, the EVS Associate maintains environmental and infection control standards within established policies and procedures of the healthcare facility. This includes cleaning patient rooms, public areas, and surgical areas, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment. The role provides service to both internal and external customers and follows regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Perform daily general cleaning and maintenance of patient rooms, operating rooms, and ancillary areas following the system’s ten steps of cleaning. Clean public areas such as lobbies, waiting rooms, restrooms, elevators, utility rooms, exam rooms, offices, and stairwells. Follow isolation procedures in isolation and contact plus rooms. Detail clean vents, fans, windows, door frames, wall art, furniture, and other designated areas. Collect and replace sharps and black pharmacy box containers in patient care areas. Document and maintain records of assigned cleaning tasks and restock supplies as needed. Operate mechanical floor equipment such as iMops, vacuums, sweepers, and other related equipment. Operate ultraviolet (UV) disinfection equipment (Surfacide UV Robot). Coordinate activities related to cleaning with the department coordinator as needed. Assist with biomedical waste collection, labeling, and transport; recycle as applicable. Perform additional duties such as using a trash compactor, emptying trash and linen chutes, and operating floor care machinery. Qualifications High school diploma or GED no longer required as of April 19, 2021. Valid Michigan driver’s license and insurability may be required. Ability to work independently and accept delegation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English at or above an 8th‑grade level. Strong interpersonal skills and professional representation of Bronson. Excellent customer‑service skills, thoroughness, and time‑management skills. Ability to tolerate routine mental and visual fatigue and work under frequent, significant deadlines. Proficiency with computer use up to 40% of the time. Physical capability to lift or move up to 50pounds, and occasional heavier tasks; perform frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Ability to stand on a stepladder up to four feet and walk stairs when necessary. Capacity for working in confined spaces and handling emergency or crisis situations. Knowledge of, and compliance with, laws and regulations per CDC, OSHA, EPA, Joint Commission, and relevant policies. Ability to maintain confidentiality per HIPAA regulations. Compensation & Benefits First shift, part‑time (16 scheduled weekly hours). Sign‑on bonus up to $375.00 and retention bonus of $375.00.
