Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

Additional Details:

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: Must have prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit. Must have heparin gtt experience.

Special Requests: Try to meet requests; will block if it is possible with staffing.

Unit Details: Nurse:patient ratios: Day shift 1:4-5, nights 1:5-6. Common diagnoses/types of patients: stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, other neuroscience, and some medical overflow. RNs titrate heparin drips based on PTT. Charge nurse and house supervisor are present 24/7; the charge nurse does not take an assignment unless short and nurses would be above ratios. Nurse aides/patient care techs are available; days 1:9-10, evenings 1:9-10, nights 1:10-12. High flow for stable COVID only, very rare. House-wide telemetry; nurses do not need to read their own strips. Phillips monitors.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend; Saturday and Sunday are considered the weekend for both shifts. Every other holiday. No call.

Floating Requirements: Float in rotation with rest of staff. General unit travelers float to the general unit floor and take a full team. If floated outside of the general unit in case of urgent need, travelers would only perform skills they are competent to do and be assigned with a nurse trained for that particular unit.

14 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months
