Job Description
Job Title: Field Trip Driver
Compensation Range: $20.25 - $22.25/hour
Benefits: This is not a benefits-eligible position. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Under general supervision of Field Supervisor and Terminal Manager, shall be responsible for providing bus transportation for field trips and athletic events.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Commercial CDL license with all the endorsements needed to drive the school bus provided.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Basic reading and math skills. Good vision and hearing is essential.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.

- Operates school buses to:
- Transport students on field trips and athletic events when these assignments are accepted.
- Responsible for maintaining order and ensure adherence to safety rules by:
- Explaining rules and regulations to students riding on the bus.
- Using assertive discipline and other acceptable techniques in dealing with student discipline.
- Completing disciplinary reports for students who do not respond to disciplinary actions.
- Turning in disciplinary reports to field supervisors.
- Performs daily pre-trip inspection of the bus as mandated by the State.
- Reports all accidents, mechanical problems, and hazardous conditions, immediately.
- Responsible for the care, cleanliness and gassing of bus driven.
- Attends training courses and meetings to increase skills related to transportation.
- Prepares reports and maintains records as requested.
- Carries out and obeys all laws and regulations of Rockford School District #205,
