Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (0700–1930)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit managing diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, and esophagectomy cases
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin per unit protocols
• Perform continuous EKG monitoring, read and interpret telemetry strips using Philips monitoring equipment alongside monitor technicians
• Manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen as indicated
• Collaborate with PCTs, charge nurses, and house supervisors across all shifts; float to other general medical units as needed
• Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification (required)
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation
• Experience with medication titration and drip management
• Competency in all foundational nursing skills applicable to an adult medical-surgical/telemetry setting
• Must pass a drug screen; position is located on a drug-free campus

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification (recommended)
• Prior experience in a cardio thoracic, telemetry, or step-down unit setting
• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patient populations
