Custodian Part-time - 260 days (Evenings)

Custodian Part TimePosition Purpose: Responsible for custodial services for all PTS facilities. Provide a clean, comfortable and safe environment for all district sites, associated buildings and adjacent grounds while promoting the mission of Perry Township Schools.Essential Functions:Responsible for routine custodial duties in all areas of the buildingRespond to spills, accidents, etc. that require immediate custodial attentionResponsible for cleaning light fixtures and changing bulbs & lampsResponsible for anticipating supply needs and reporting them to the Head CustodianResponsible for maintaining custodial closets in a clean and orderly conditionResponsible for providing assistance to maintenance personnel when directedPerform related or special tasks as assigned by the Head Custodian and School AdministratorDuring the summer months, school breaks or in the event of an emergency all custodial employees are subject to call for routine or emergency duties in the building other than their regular assignmentIf working the daytime shift, responsible for snow removal from the exterior entry door areas and exterior sidewalks out to the curbSpread sand, salt or other chemicals to prevent slippingPerform general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting and moving materialsPromote an environment free of harassment and discriminationDemonstrate a commitment to workAbility to work independently with minimum supervisionDemonstrate good judgment and common senseAvailable to work additional hours and/or be on call as required to meet the needs of the positionOther duties may be assignedEquipment Use:Hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including brooms, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, and snow shovelsOperate equipment and machinery in a fashion to provide a safe environmentResponsible for maintaining assigned custodial equipment in clean, operationally ready condition and reporting any repairs needed to the Head CustodianTravel Requirements:Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as requiredPay Rate: $15.75 per hour +.50 shift differentialWork Schedule: 5.5 hours per day 260 days per yearKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:Seldom = Less than 25%Occasional = 26 to 50%Often = 51 to 75%Very Frequent = Greater than 75%Physical Requirement Percentage of Time:Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
