Obstetrics / Labor and Delivery Registered NurseHigh risk unit, couplet care. Must be willing to do it all from start to finish. Must circulate c-sections and feel comfortable in all aspects of Labor and Delivery. L&D Beds 10 OR Suites on the unit for C-Sections? 2 Triage beds 3 OB-ED and 3 antepartum testing used for OB ED overflow Postpartum beds 12 Births per day? Month? Year? 140-165 births monthly Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios? Ratios 1:3-4 couplets, LD anywhere from 1:1 to 1:2, 1:1-3 antepartums Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, & AWHONN-Advanced. STABLE preferred. Must be able to float to MB and be able to circulate c-sections. All RNs must be able to circulate C/S Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips Pitocin Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief. Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit? OB surgical techs OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7? OB hospitalist 24/7 - Neo on call 24/7 and rounds daily. Anesthesia in house 24/7. Scrubs: Provided - Baby Catcher is also known as the NRP role. This is sometimes filled by NICU staff and sometimes by L&D. Depends on who has the staff available to do it. But it is an assignment for the entire shift.
