Let’s change the world.In this vital role, you will lead competitive intelligence activities as a key member of the Obesity Competitive Intelligence team within Obesity Intelligence & Analytics. You will serve as a key partner to Obesity leadership and cross-functional teams, translating rapidly evolving competitive developments into actionable insights that inform asset and portfolio strategy.Work Location: Flex Commuter to Amgen’s Thousand Oaks, CA office, with 3 on-site days per week expected. Key ResponsibilitiesBe a strategic thought partner to Obesity leadership and cross-functional teams, bringing a competitive perspective to key business decisionsSynthesize complex intelligence into strategic insights and clear implications for Amgen’s portfolio and business strategyWork in a highly cross functional manner and manage changing priorities across key stakeholdersDevelop productive relationships with Global and Regional teams to define business problems and develop integrated analysis plans based on standard methodologiesApply structured problem solving to collect, analyze and report CI, incorporating primary and secondary data sources to generate meaningful insightsArticulate the impact of changing market dynamics and competitive developments to key stakeholdersOrganize and facilitate strategic exercises & competitive simulations to generate competitive insights and company plansLead CI planning and intelligence collection at major medical congresses, working cross-functionally to translate emerging data and insights into timely implications for stakeholdersManage a network of primary data sources, including vendors and Amgen employees, to enable effective project deliveryCollaborate with fellow CI leads to advance competitive intelligence capabilities and best practicesSynthesize CI research findings while maintaining high standards for accuracy, relevance, and quality, and clearly communicate the strength of evidence to key partnersPresent strategic analysis, insights, implications, and recommendations to key stakeholders and leadershipAbide by and strictly enforce Amgen’s CI Legal and Ethical Guidelines with internal colleagues and agenciesSome travel (15-20%) requiredWhat we expect of youWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The professional we seek is a collaborator with these qualifications.Basic QualificationsDoctorate degree and 2 years of competitive intelligence or similar experience OR Master’s degree and 4 years of competitive intelligence or similar experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of competitive intelligence or similar experience OR Associate’s degree and 10 years of competitive intelligence or similar experience OR High school diploma / GED and 12 years of competitive intelligence or similar experience Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree (PhD/MS/MBA) with a focus on life sciences and businessExperience within life science consulting work in obesity and/or other metabolic conditionsFamiliarity with biopharma industryRelevant experience in obesity via prior project work, disease area knowledgePrior experience in strategy/management consulting in the biopharma industry, roles of increasing responsibilityDemonstrated ability to think strategically and analyze data to support critical business decisionsAbility to operate effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment and deliver high-quality insights under tight timelinesExcellent oral, written, and presentation skills—able to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiencesEvident project management skills—able to manage multiple, simultaneous projects and data sourcesDemonstrated analytical skills—understands the advantages and limits of different analytical approaches and studiesAbility to work collaboratively in team-based environmentStrong understanding of the latest developments and trends in the obesity space, key competitive dynamics and unmet medical needsWhat you can expect of usAs we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being.
