We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join a growing behavioral healthcare organization in Florida .

The PMHNP will provide comprehensive psychiatric care to individuals experiencing a range of mental health and substance use disorders. This role involves psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, ongoing patient monitoring, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary clinical team.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with patients who may present with complex psychiatric and co-occurring conditions and is committed to providing individualized, evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
• Diagnose and treat a broad range of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment and patient needs.
• Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychotropic medications.
• Provide ongoing medication management and evaluate patient response to treatment.
• Identify and treat co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
• Assess patient safety and risk, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, and other acute psychiatric concerns.
• Order and review appropriate laboratory testing and diagnostic studies.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and recovery.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.
• Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, nursing staff, medical providers, and other members of the treatment team.
• Participate in treatment planning and clinical case consultation.
• Coordinate care with outside providers when appropriate.
• Maintain compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, organizational policies, and standards of clinical practice.

Patient Population

The PMHNP may work with individuals experiencing conditions including:

• Depression and mood disorders
• Anxiety disorders
• ADHD
• Bipolar disorder
• PTSD and trauma-related disorders
• Obsessive-compulsive disorder
• Psychotic disorders
• Substance use disorders
• Co-occurring psychiatric and substance use conditions

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) .
• Active and unrestricted Florida APRN license , or eligibility to obtain one.
• Current DEA registration or ability to obtain.
• Experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, addiction treatment, or a related clinical environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications and evidence-based treatment practices.
• Ability to assess and manage patients with complex behavioral health presentations.
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment environment.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

• Outpatient psychiatry
• Mental health treatment
• Substance use disorder treatment
• Dual-diagnosis/co-occurring disorders
• PHP/IOP programs
• Residential behavioral healthcare
• Medication-assisted treatment (MAT)
