SPA's Sea Land Air (SLA) Division supports a diverse portfolio of national security government clients, including the Undersea Enterprise, the Navy Surface Community, the Navy MPTE Enterprise, the Air Force, Army, DoW Agencies, DARPA, international clients including the Canadian Navy and Australian Defence Force. Our primary objective is to provide timely, objective and analytic assessments that integrate the policy, operational, technical, programmatic and acquisition aspects of our clients' challenges.

SPA's Operations Research and C5ISR Analysis (ORCA) Group develops and employs simulation system products in support of operations, experimentation, and the acquisition analysis process. ORCA analysts apply Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools to identify and analyze trends in big data to solve real-world problems. ORCA software engineers and cyber security professionals develop, build, and deploy custom hardware and software solutions to meet our client's toughest challenges.

Your role will be to: Provide documentation development and revision support of software systems and applications. Includes development of training materials, quick reference guides, user manuals, and technical drawings. Edit and proofread complex technical documents or sections of documents such as software manuals, procedures, and specifications. Be responsible for following material/production through the stages of creation (i.e. layout and formatting) to ensure the final product meets all required specifications. Participate in the development of department editing standards and styles and the interpretation of government standards, and other responsibilities such as writing assistance on presentation materials, reports, papers, documents, and other publications.


This position coordinates and participates in production activities from initial draft to final published product.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

• Use manual and electronic means to edit and format text, illustrations, diagrams, charts, and tables in accordance with prescribed editorial and proofreading conventions.
• May provide extensive revisions or original writing as required.
• Recommends other improvements and advises research staff members on publication organization, format, and style.
• Coordinate and participate in production activities from initial draft stage to final publication.
• Provide training and guidance to administrative and other editorial staff on publication and graphic requirements, formatting concerns, and software applications.
• May participate in management-directed document reviews.
• May maintain division databases of formal and informal task deliverables and track status of task order deliverables for compliance with schedule.
• Work cohesively with technical analysts and software developers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in English, Communications, Journalism, Mathematics, Computer Software or related field
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in technical writing, editing, or documentation
• Excellent ability to create technical test documents, user manuals and technical Installation guides
• Familiarity with systems such as Microsoft Suite, Office 365, Visio, Adobe Publishing Tools, Adobe FrameMaker, Git Hub, Camtasia, Tortise Hg, HTML
• Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel
• Familiarity with software development / concepts
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
• Ability to work onsite up to 5 days per week, depending upon client needs

Desired Qualifications:

• Effective software testing and troubleshooting skills preferred
• Intermediate-to-expert knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker preferred
• Technical writing certification preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks or projects preferred

Pay Range Information

Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. California, Pay Transparency Salary range: USD $65,000.00/Yr. - USD $85,000.00/Yr.
