About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Evening/Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS or ENPC Must-Have: - 2 years of experience in Emergency Department - Skills in managing trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac patients Description: Candidates must not have been full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated within the past year. The unit has 243 beds and trauma bays. There is a fast track system in place. A separate triage area exists, and travelers may occasionally be required to perform triage duties. There is no separate holding area in the ER; holds are intermixed. The ER nurses manage their own ER holds. There are no separate psych/seclusion rooms available. In-house security is present. The unit sees approximately 80-90 patients per day. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 to 4. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, TNCC, and PALS/ENPC. Common diagnoses include trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac conditions. The unit employs physicians, mid-levels, charge nurses, house supervisors, nurse aides, paramedics, and patient sitters. The electronic medical record system in use is EPIC. Registered Nurses will need to know ECG rhythms, as there are no monitor techs on the unit. X-ray or CT services are located next to the emergency department for transport. Techs or RNs will perform phlebotomy. Staff schedules are self-scheduled, including day and night shifts with various start times. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Holiday requirements are every other holiday. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating to qualified units may be necessary. Scrub color is navy. Unit-specific orientation is provided. The cancellation policy allows for 4 shifts per 13-week assignment and 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks.
