A Dish Machine Operator (DMO) is responsible for maintaining dish washer operations in the outlet. A DMO operates a dishwasher and other cleaning equipment in a safe manner and follows drying and storage health code guidelines. The DMO may support a variety of departmental functions including routine cleaning projects, material organization, or equipment preparation. A DMO may also assist in the transportation of materials throughout the department. Work schedules are variable based on business needs and may require night, weekend, or holiday availability. General Duties include: Setting up and breaking down the steward station nightly in support of the ala carte restaurant and transporting tableware from room 278 to the food lab dish area. Assistance with student meals, food preparation, student work stations, and product handling are necessary. The DMO must be able to train the part time DMO assistant and provide direction to students when interacting with the DMO department. Preparation and set-up of student/staff meal Instructing students on how to utilize the dish machine area and organize and maintain the trash, compost and recycle bins Instructing students with culinary techniques within assigned stations Required Qualifications Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing. Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. High School education or GED preferred, basic reading and writing skills. Walking and standing 100% of the time. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling.
