Manheim Sr Mobile Inspector, Central Long Island, NY

This Sr. Mobile Inspector functions as an advanced member of the Manheim mobile inspections team for a designated region with primary responsibilities of conducting vehicle condition inspections on a client’s lot. They provide accurate and complete documentation of overall vehicle condition within the parameters of a Manheim inspection, build client trust, and support inventory growth by delivering timely, quality inspections. Primary Duties & Kew Responsibilities Conduct thorough vehicle inspections at an expert level. Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles on dealer or client lots safely. Verify vehicle identification and enter accurate information into the inspection system, correcting VIN, mileage, and sub‑series. Inspect vehicle equipment and options, documenting results including damage, missing or inoperable items. Record vehicle exterior condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, and mechanical components. Record vehicle interior condition, including seats, dashboard, and options. Perform basic mechanical checks on vehicles, including powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components. Assist lower‑level mobile inspectors with complex inspections and client relationships. Prepare and provide daily activity reports for management. Pivot and adapt to daily appointment changes to ensure dealer visit efficiency. Develop strong knowledge of clients in territory and collaborate with partners to keep them active on Manheim mobile inspections. Receive data and insight from partners and leverage it to maximize inspected unit volume on dealer lots. Represent Cox Automotive as a brand ambassador, providing premier client experience and ensuring satisfaction. Work closely with the Wholesale Specialist team, peers, other Manheim workgroups, and auctions. Utilize Salesforce.com for reporting, lead input, and customer performance reviews. Understand the NAAA Frame and Structure Damage policy. Work in a continuous improvement, Lean environment and actively drive lean culture initiatives. Maintain production expectations set by leadership. Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling related behaviors. Actively support all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Experience, Specialist Knowledge and Skills High School Diploma or GED plus five years of experience in a related field, or a higher degree with at least three years of experience, or seven years of related experience. Previous vehicle inspection experience and automotive knowledge, including body and mechanical expertise. Two to three years of automotive‑related experience preferred. One year of service with Manheim Inspections recommended. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required. Travel 100%; reliable transportation required. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Strong technical aptitude and attention to detail. Experience navigating handheld and other documentation devices preferred. Motivated to work independently with remote supervision. Ability to multitask, follow directions, and take instruction. Body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge helpful; familiarity with unibody and full‑frame helpful. Ability to lift and hold at least thirty pounds at waist level for extended periods. Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, crouch, bend, and kneel to inspect vehicles. Physical dexterity to lift hoods or trunks and reach inside or underneath vehicles. Near‑vision abilities required to identify dings, scratches, paint work, hail damage, frame or unibody damage, and interior damage. Ability to handle different lighting conditions. Physical and mental acuity to perform duties within required time frames to meet business needs. Drug Testing To be employed in this role, a pre‑employment drug test must be cleared.
