Development Associate

THE OPPORTUNITY The Development Associate, based in Dallas, TX, will be joining a fast-growing and entrepreneurial team focused on Class A Multifamily development and acquisitions across major Texas markets, northwest Arkansas, and Nashville. The company is backed by a high-net-worth family office with fully discretionary capital to acquire well-located development sites and invest across the capital stack, allowing Missio Capital to move quickly and structure deals creatively. The company’s family office partnership also provides back-office support including accounting, legal, IT, and marketing departments, allowing the Missio deal team to focus on sourcing and executing investments. THE RESPONSIBILITIES Managing all elements of due diligence for potential multifamily development/investment opportunities. Responsible for performing underwriting and market feasibility analysis using local knowledge and third-party data sources including Costar and Yardi Matrix. Assist with identifying and sourcing ground-up multifamily development opportunities and co‑GP investments through broker relationships, off‑market outreach, and market research across target markets. Managing and updating project proformas and development schedules throughout project lifecycle. Partner with colleagues to plan and design multifamily projects. This includes reviewing drawings, coordinating third‑party consultants, incorporating all due diligence materials into design and execution of necessary entitlements and project permits. Organize and attend OAC meetings and manage GC through completion of construction of projects. Communicate with GC on projects and provide pricing updates and construction drawing coordination to eventual contract execution. Provide counsel and guidance to in‑house property management team during pre‑leasing, lease‑up and project stabilization. Work with investment sales brokers, as well as other stakeholders, during project disposition, to coordinate sales process and maximize ROI value. REQUIRED SKILLS Exceptional project management skills with a focus on attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment. Self‑starter with ability to effectively prioritize and manage time while being proactive. Outstanding interpersonal skills. Team oriented and comfortable in a non‑institutional approach and flat organizational structure. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong financial underwriting background with an understanding of commercial property cash flows, equity waterfalls, and debt structure. Knowledge of DFW multifamily comps and submarkets strongly preferred. BS/BA degree in Finance, Economics or related field required. Minimum 4 years relevant multifamily real estate experience.
