Compensation: $250,000-$350,000 per year

About the Role

The Head of Operations will own the full accounting delivery organization, lead the integration of acquired firms, and build the operational infrastructure needed to support continued scale. CPAs leading business units will report directly into this position. The role is responsible for delivery quality, operational performance, organizational leadership, firm integration, workforce development, and maintaining consistency across multiple accounting teams and workstreams.

This position operates within a technology-forward, acquisition-driven accounting services environment. It serves as the diagnostic link between the accounting practice and the internal product team, identifying operational problems worth solving and translating field feedback into product direction. The role also requires visible leadership through complex transitions, direct access to the Founder, and the ability to support an intentional path toward broader executive operational leadership as the organization grows.

What You'll Do

Delivery & Organizational Leadership

• Own the full accounting delivery organization, with CPAs leading business units reporting directly into the role.
• Ensure accountants across acquired firms perform to established standards, with work completed accurately, on time, and at the quality level clients expect.
• Monitor client responsiveness and delivery timelines across the portfolio.
• Assess the quality of Client Accounting Services (CAS) and tax work at the engagement level, identifying and addressing performance or quality gaps directly.
• Serve as the visible operational authority and decision-maker during transitions, providing clear leadership across the organization.

Integration & Change Management

• Lead the people side of firm integration, guiding staff through changes in tools, processes, and operating models with clarity and organizational buy‑in.
• Build and manage onboarding and training programs that enable acquired staff to ramp quickly and perform consistently.
• Own the hiring and development of replacement and backfill talent as the portfolio expands.
• Drive operational change that improves the work while bringing teams through the transition effectively.

Operational Excellence & Scale

• Drive process improvement across the accounting practice by identifying inefficiencies, standardizing workflows, and maintaining operational performance through multiple concurrent acquisitions.
• Act as the primary diagnostic voice for the product team by identifying operational problems worth solving rather than selecting software solutions.
• Own the feedback loop between the accounting practice and the product team, translating field realities into product direction and helping ensure new tools are adopted in practice.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• Significant experience leading accounting services delivery in an operational leadership capacity, including direct management of senior practitioners.
• Demonstrated experience assessing the quality of CAS and tax work at the engagement level within a public accounting environment.
• Track record of leading and developing accounting teams, including hiring employees and building training programs.
• Prior exposure to mergers and acquisitions, firm integration, or multi-entity operations.

Required Skills

• Ability to lead accounting delivery operations across multiple firms, teams, and concurrent workstreams while maintaining quality and execution standards.
• Strong capability in accounting services delivery oversight, including CAS and tax engagement quality assessment.
• Ability to identify operational inefficiencies, standardize workflows, and drive process improvement as an organization scales.
• Experience leading organizational change and guiding teams through transitions involving tools, processes, and operating models.
• Ability to design and manage onboarding and training programs that support consistent staff performance.
• Comfort working in a technology-forward environment and engaging substantively with product teams on workflow and tooling decisions.
• Ability to translate operational issues from the accounting practice into actionable feedback and priorities for product teams.
• Strong organizational capability for managing complexity across multiple firms and workstreams simultaneously.
• Resilience and adaptability in a fast-moving startup environment, with the ability to earn trust across organizational levels and lead through change with authority and clarity.

Education & Certifications

• Degree in accounting or a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA designation preferred but not required.
