Clinical Intern

Are you a current college student aspiring for a career in the mental healthcare field? Kennebec Behavioral Health, established in 1960 to provide comprehensive behavioral health services and named one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for the last 5 years and is now recognized as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) , has a limited capacity for interns to join our clinics (Augusta, Farmington, Skowhegan or Waterville). The internship can be with any of several departments including Outpatient, School Based, Access Center, HCT (Home and Community Therapy), or MST (Multi-Systematic Therapy). Who we are: Our intentional working community is a non-clinical therapy-through-work program that focuses on helping adults with mental illness discover or re-discover their passions and interests. We assist people in living vocationally meaningful and socially satisfying lives by returning to work and school, living independently, and developing a social support network. In this collaborative, restorative environment, members gain access to opportunities to rejoin the worlds of friendships, family, community, employment and education, and to the services and support they may need. What you’ll do as an Intern: You’ll learn about providing direct care/treatment to clients in an Outpatient setting. Care may be provided in person, or via telehealth. You’ll begin learning about use and application of evidence-based practices, and may have opportunities for training as well. You will learn to write comprehensive progress notes, treatment plans, and assessments, as well as the criteria for diagnosing clients.
