Assistant Building Manager Responsibilities Provide a high level of cooperation, service, and support to residents. Respond promptly to resident concerns and service requests. Assist Building Managers in showing available apartments to prospective residents. Oversee daily building operations when Building Managers are off duty. Assist with move‑in and move‑out procedures at month‑end. Ensure building cleanliness. Perform all aspects of the role in compliance with applicable legislation, including health and safety standards, WHMIS, AODA, PIPEDA, and human rights. Take initiative to address deficiencies by maintaining clean, debris‑free lobbies, hallways, and property grounds, and performing minor tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, basic plumbing or electrical fixes). Ensure all areas are hazard‑free; if not immediately resolvable, report to management for prompt resolution. Perform other duties as assigned by management within the scope of the role. Responsible for rent collection. Assist Building Managers with daily tasks. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 1–2 years of relevant experience in customer service or a similar role. Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Teams, email, etc.). Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, plastering, carpentry, painting, etc. Experience in the multi‑residential housing industry or a related field is considered an asset. Commitment to best‑in‑class customer service. Professional demeanor with strong communication skills. High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality. Ability to listen, understand, and respond appropriately to issues. Ability to work and act independently using sound judgment. Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure. Self‑motivated individual with a “can‑do” attitude and willingness to take on any task. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines. Excellent problem‑solving abilities. Bilingualism in French and English is required. Active advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion to create a sense of belonging. Preferred Qualifications Experience with fire and building safety inspections (an asset). Knowledge of laws, legislation, and tenant rights (an asset).
