OMSA of New Mexico is excited to welcome Dr. Thalker to our practice! As our team continues to grow and patient demand increases, we are expanding our staff and looking to add a couple of dedicated and skilled Full-Time Oral Surgery Assistants to support our doctors and provide exceptional patient care.

This role offers a consistent schedule of  Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM , within a dynamic and supportive work environment. We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional development.

Position Overview

As an Oral Surgery Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our oral surgery practice. Your responsibilities will span clinical support, patient care, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Surgical Assistance : Support the oral surgeon during procedures by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating surgical needs.
• Consultation Support : Assist with patient intake, sedation recovery, and help communicate treatment plans and procedures.
• Prosthetic Assistance : Aid in the placement and adjustment of prosthetic devices, including dental implants.
• Operatory Preparation : Ensure treatment rooms are clean, sterilized, and fully equipped prior to procedures.
• Imaging : Operate and maintain panoramic and cone-beam CT scanning equipment.
• Instrument Sterilization : Clean, sterilize, and store surgical instruments and materials safely.
• Pre- and Post-Operative Care : Provide patients with clear instructions regarding fasting, medications, transportation, wound care, pain management, and dietary guidelines.
• Confidentiality : Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and practice standards.
• Inventory Management : Monitor and manage supply levels, assisting with ordering as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certification or experience as a surgical assistant preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

• Experience : Minimum 1 year in dental assisting (required)
• Licenses/Certifications :
• Certified Dental Assistant (required)
• X-Ray Certification (required)
