In this role, you will analyze Medicaid provider claims and payments, support the design and calculation of hospital, physician, and other reimbursement systems, and contribute to meaningful work that helps state Medicaid programs operate efficiently, accurately, and compliantly.This position is ideal for candidates who are analytical, curious, detail-oriented, and interested in the intersection of healthcare, policy, and data. With training and support, you will be responsible for the following job duties:Essential Functions and Primary DutiesUse SQL, Alteryx, PowerBI, or similar tools to analyze large datasets and develop actionable recommendationsPrepare, interpret, and distribute analytical reports and written summariesBuild SQL queries, build data extraction logic, and validate data used in reimbursement calculationsConduct research to determine billing and reimbursement compliance with Medicaid or other government regulationsAssist in designing and maintaining Medicaid payment methodologies for hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare providersReview Federal and State policies, regulations, and statutory language and apply them to analytical workParticipate in evaluating client-identified issues or problems and contribute to development of solutionsWork iteratively by incorporating team feedback, validating assumptions, and refining analysesMaintain accurate, organized electronic documentationMaintain strict confidentiality and security of protected health informationReceive structured training and hands-on mentorship in Medicaid reimbursement conceptsAssist in developing and documenting Medicaid reimbursement models (e.g., hospital DRG/EAPG/APC, outpatient fee schedules, ACR-based methodologies, UPL demonstrations)Support analysis of large Medicaid claims datasets and Medicare/Medicaid cost reports to calculate rates and evaluate fiscal impactsHelp review and contribute to State Plan Amendments (SPAs), CMS RAIs, and related regulatory submissionsParticipate in preparing technical documentation, methodology descriptions, and client deliverablesParticipate in structured problem-solving sessions to diagnose data issues, interpret policy requirements, and refine analytic approachesPerform additional responsibilities as assignedPreferred QualificationsExperience in SQL and large-dataset analysisStrong problem-solving ability with a willingness to break down complex issues and propose solutionsInterest or Experience in Alteryx, PowerBI, or other data visualization programsAbility to incorporate feedback, refine work, and continuously improveExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical and critical-thinking skillsHigh attention to detail and strong organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignmentsFamiliarity with healthcare data, provider reimbursement, policy interpretation, or auditing (internships welcome)Interest in learning Medicaid concepts such as DRG, ACR, UPL, DSH, GME, and directed payments (to name a few)Posting Date: 2026-06-23
