JOB DUTIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES: MISSION, VISION, AND SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT
- Coordinates efforts with building principal to establish and implement a shared mission and vision for the school that leads to academic growth for all learners.
- Supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of the school Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) and associated academic and culture/climate goals.
- Develops, in collaboration with principal and staff, consistent instructional practices which reflect effective teaching and learning that includes a rigorous and relevant standards-based curriculum.
- Collaborates with the principal and staff to support consistent instructional practices and a rigorous, standards-based curriculum.
- Establishes, in collaboration with the principal and staff, a continuous improvement cycle that uses multiple forms of data and student work samples to support individual, team, and school-wide improvement goals, identifies and addresses target areas for improvement, measures outcomes and celebrates successes.
- Contributes to a continuous improvement cycle using rigor walks, learning classroom visits, student work, assessment data, and feedback to inform school-wide goals and instructional practices.
- In collaboration with the building principal, evaluates the effectiveness of instruction and of individual teachers by conducting formal and informal observations and provides timely, specific targeted, actionable feedback on instruction as part of the district teacher appraisal system.
- Works with the principal to support and facilitate teacher teams and professional learning communities.
- Facilitates and supports teacher teams and professional learning communities focused on improved instructional outcomes.
- Participates in and helps lead professional learning aligned to instructional and operational leadership priorities.
- Leads Tier 2/3 MTSS meetings, tracking and monitoring.
- Is a critical part of the service team, leading and facilitating special education meetings, including but not limited to initial domains, annual reviews, and re-evaluations.
- Serves as the building-level LEA (Local Education Agency) representative, responsible for leading and facilitating special education service team meetings, including domains, eligibility, IEPs, re-evaluations, and annual reviews.
- Promotes a positive school climate by leading efforts to support student behavior, discipline systems, restorative practices, and school-wide attendance initiatives.
- Trains the crisis team and building staff in verbal de-escalation, timeout, and holds techniques, restorative practices, and/or trauma informed care in alignment with ISBE and District guidelines.
- In partnership with the principal, creates, develops and sustains relationships that result in active student engagement in the learning process.
- Builds relationships with students, staff, and families that support engagement, trust, and student agency in learning.
- Collaborates with the principal to foster a school culture that values cultural diversity, embraces multiple perspectives, and promotes high aspirations and academic achievement for every student.
- Consistently a model's positive behavior aligned to the school's vision and mission and builds the capacity of others in the school community.
- Works with principal to ensure a welcoming environment and a school culture that successfully develops the full range of students' learning capacities - academic, creative, social-emotional, behavioral and physical.
- Attends required LEA trainings and culture and climate Communities of Practice (CoPs) as indicated.
- Utilizes meaningful feedback from students, staff, families, and community in the evaluation of instructional programs and school procedures.
- Proactively engages families and communities in supporting student learning and the school's shared mission, vision and learning goals.
- Responsible for supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
- Takes a leadership role, with or in the absence of a school principal in the event of any safety or other emergency.
- Organize, oversee, and communicate information about state and district assessments in buildings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master's Degree in the field of education required.
- Professional Educator License with General Administrative or Principal endorsement.
- Successful completion of all PERA module designations required to evaluate certified staff (Teachers & Principal) (preferred); completion required by September 1st of current year.
- LBS1 endorsement (preferred).
- CPI and/or Restorative Practices Certified (preferred).
- Minimum of five years teaching experience.
- Demonstrated interest, knowledge and/or applied experience in serving culturally and linguistically diverse students.
- Extensive knowledge of learning theory, current educational trends, program planning, curriculum development, behavior management and oversight of instructional programs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
- Crisis management experience.
- Experience using formative assessment and other student data to improve instruction and the provision of academic and social supports; data-driven decision-making.
- Experience with multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), student behavior systems, and restorative discipline practices.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to present information before large and small groups.
- Ability to plan and evaluate strategies for improving instruction.
- Knowledge of school code, state and federal law and District policies.
- Maintain complete and accurate records / statistics and generate reports as required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) oral and written skills preferred.
- Will be expected to work evenings and some weekends as required by the school's and district's event supervision calendar.
- This position has a 11-month work year (229 days). Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
- The salary range for this position is $75,396.00 - $113,099.00. Our typical practice is to hire in between the minimum and midpoint $94,248.00.
