Medical Laboratory Scientist II – Tucker, GA Tuesday to Saturday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM Sign‑on bonus: $10,000 for eligible external candidates. Relocation assistance: Will be considered. Pay range: $34.00+ per hour. Salary offers are based on a range of factors including skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications. Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of testing and troubleshoot instruments and procedures in the department. Support quality control, troubleshoot complex problems, provide customer support, maintain instruments and equipment, train staff, improve processes, and complete special projects as assigned. Perform and report assigned analytical tests in accordance with SOPs, ensuring quality control requirements are met. Support laboratory policies for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record maintenance. Adhere to analytical schedules to maintain turnaround time of results, including stat and critical results. Ensure reagents/test kits have dates and expiration information recorded. Document QC analysis to ensure accuracy of clinical data and proper instrument function; make QC decisions regarding assay or test disposition. Inform supervisors of all problems affecting test performance. Report deviations from standard or accepted procedures and cooperate in investigations. Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for physician review. Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition. Complete training and competency checklists as required. Assist supervisor with training other laboratory personnel. Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements. Use PPE, engineering controls, and/or work practice controls as directed. Answer questions from clients or other lab personnel. Participate in government or regulatory inspections as needed. Assume lead responsibilities when a supervisor is absent, if qualified and delegated. Perform other duties as assigned. This is a general description, not exhaustive. Qualifications Required Work Experience One (1) year full‑time experience or training in high‑complexity testing in a clinical laboratory setting. Preferred Work Experience Minimum of 3 years clinical experience with most current year in the present department. Physical and Mental Requirements Lifting limits: 1–10 lbs frequently, 11–25 lbs occasionally, 36–50 lbs seldom, >50 lbs requires assistance. Stand and work at bench for long periods. Frequent walking and/or standing. Use a variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments requiring manual dexterity. Knowledge Comprehensive theoretical and operational knowledge in designated specialty. Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures. B.S. or B.A. in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology; or Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or previous qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433 (published March 14, 1990). Foreign‑educated candidates must provide credential evaluation from IERF; U.S.‑educated candidates must provide original transcript. State‑specific certifications may apply; check local HR or QA departments. Skills Leadership and problem‑solving skills. Education Associate’s Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology (Preferred). Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry (Preferred).
