Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Shifts Hours per Shift: Varying start times - 7 AM, 9 AM, 10 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Emergency Room/Trauma License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (or ENPC) Must-Have: Must pass a dysrhythmia exam during the first week of onboarding. Must complete a skills assessment on the first day of orientation. Description: This position requires a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in emergency care. The facility has 31 beds in the Emergency Room. The nurse will work with a patient ratio of 1:3-4. Charge nurses and unit secretaries are available for support. Paramedics can assist with IV starts, discharges, and tech duties. Certified Nursing Assistants perform tech duties as well. Weekend work is required every other weekend and two of three major holidays. Navy scrubs are the prescribed uniform color. Telemonitoring is conducted with GE Lifepacks monitors. Ventilators used include Puritan Bennett 840, Draeger, Vision BiPAP, and V60s. Physicians and mid-level providers are present in-house. Emergency response teams are available 24/7. Pharmacy services are also available 24/7. Shifts for nurses are 12 hours in length. Flexible start times are necessary based on scheduling. Nurses may float between facilities as needed. Common patient diagnoses include motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, strokes, myocardial infarctions, and high-risk obstetrics. Psychiatric holds are managed regularly, with stabilization and transfer protocols in place. Patients younger than 15 are stabilized and transferred to appropriate care.
