This is an opportunity to join a highly experienced engineering team responsible for the complete technical design of utility interconnection substations and transmission switchyards that deliver hundreds of megawatts of reliable power to mission-critical data center campuses. You will play a key role in designing high-voltage infrastructure from concept through commissioning, working on projects ranging from 34.5 kV distribution substations to 345 kV transmission switchyards.ResponsibilitiesDevelop the electrical and physical design of high-voltage substations and switchyards (34.5 kV–345 kV)Develop one-line diagrams, protection philosophies, grounding systems, station layouts, and equipment specificationsIf applicable, prepare engineering calculations including:Short-circuit studiesGrounding analysisLightning protectionCable sizingAC/DC station serviceIf applicable, prepare design documents including:Station General ArrangementsElevations and sectional viewsGrounding and conduit detailsFoundation and steel detailsControl building arrangements and detailsSpecify and coordinate major equipment including:Power transformersGas circuit breakersDisconnect switchesInstrument transformersProtection and control systemsCoordinate with utilities, EPC contractors, civil, structural, transmission line, and protection engineersReview vendor drawings and provide technical guidance throughout procurement and constructionSupport factory acceptance testing (FAT), commissioning, and energization activitiesAbout YouB.S. in Electrical Engineering5+ years of experience in high-voltage substation engineeringStrong experience designing substations from 34.5 kV through 345 kVExperience with utility interconnections and transmission systemsKnowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NESC, and applicable utility standardsExperience with grounding design, protection coordination, and relay applicationsPE license preferred (or ability to obtain)Occasional travel to job site is requiredPreferred ExperienceExperience with one or more of the following:AI or hyperscale data centersBattery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)Transmission switchyardsSubstation electrical configurationsGas-insulated or air-insulated substationsETAP, CDEGS, ASPEN, or SKMAutoCAD, and BluebeamAbout the Work EnvironmentThis role is in office at our corporate headquarters in the Brickell area of Miami, Florida with travel to our various Data Center locations.
