Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Engineer (Satellites)

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY ENGINEERAs part of the SpaceX Satellites Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical EHS support to our satellite manufacturing teams. You will provide technical expertise and assist in the implementation of all environmental, health, and safety requirements for our satellite and dish manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in both environmental and occupational safety fields, hands-on, and works well in a fast-paced environment.RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA and NIOSH and other applicable regulatory agenciesCollaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and proceduresMonitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazardsUnderstand and implement machine guarding where neededDevelop recommendations for remedial actions when safety policies are not met by employeesInspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with all applicable regulationsComplete and maintain documented safety observations from regular hazard identification auditsInvestigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes, corrective actions and preventive measuresDevelop, implement and maintain safety contingency plans (fires, spills, etc.)Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations established by the EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, TRRC, RWQCB, NEPA and other applicable regulatory agenciesReview and interpret new and proposed environmental laws and regulations, and provide guidance to managementPerform environmental compliance and due diligence audits to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agenciesConduct and monitor the NPDES and other discharge permits/plansMaintain recordkeeping and compliance requirements established for permitted sources defined by the local AQMDResponsible for hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including DOT and RCRAMaintain compliance with the Certified Unified Program AgencyBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree5+ years of experience in the design, development and operational oversight of environmental, health and safety disciplinesPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor of Science in engineering with an emphasis in Occupational Health and Safety and/or Environmental EngineeringExperience in both environmental and safety fieldsMechanically inclined and capable of comprehending basic principles of modern machineryExperience with implementing and maintaining compliance with storm water regulationsStrong knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying and documenting federal, state and local safety and environmental regulationsStrong organizational and communication skillsFamiliarity and implementation of machine guarding and industrial hygiene programsExperience with emergency response communication and incident management in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and waterExtensive experience in Environmental fields, including permitting, waste management, and interpretation of federal, state and local environmental regulationsHigh level of emotional intelligence and ability to adapt communication styles with all levels of the companyAbility to accept constructive criticism and quickly course correctProven track record of strong organizational skills and multi-tasking capabilitiesStrong knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying and documenting federal, state and local safety and environmental regulationsExperience and/or education in construction safetyADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Hawthorne, CA areaPosition occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when neededCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay range:Environmental Health & Safety Engineer Senior: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00/per yearYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
