Field Service TechnicianThe Mid-Level Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ozone generation and ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems used in water and wastewater treatment applications. This role ensures optimal system performance, regulatory compliance, and reliable disinfection processes. The technician works independently at customer sites while supporting advanced oxidation processes and integrated treatment systems.Travel Requirement: This position requires extensive travel to client sites. The travel schedule is structured as 3 weeks on the road/traveling to client sites followed by 1 week at home. This rotating schedule ensures continuous support for our water treatment plant projects across multiple locations. Key Responsibilities:Install, commission, and service ozone generation systems (corona discharge units, oxygen concentrators, ozone destruct units) and UV disinfection systems (low- and medium-pressure UV reactors)Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on system components including power supplies, ballasts, UV lamps, quartz sleeves, ozone generators, compressors, and associated piping/valvesTroubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control issues, including PLC-based systems and remote monitoring platformsMonitor and optimize disinfection performance (UV dose, UV transmittance, ozone concentration, CT values)Clean and maintain UV reactor components (e.g., sleeve cleaning systems) and ozone system components (e.g., dielectric tubes, diffusers)Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control logic diagramsSupport system startups, validation, and performance testingMaintain detailed service reports, compliance documentation, and regulatory logsEnsure adherence to safety standards, especially around high voltage systems, oxidizing gases, and confined spacesTrain customers on system operation, routine maintenance, and safety proceduresQualificationsRequired Qualifications:Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, environmental, or related field (or equivalent experience)3–5 years of field service experience in water treatment or industrial equipmentHands-on experience with UV or ozone systems (or closely related technologies)Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical systems (high-voltage preferred), mechanical components, and basic PLC controlsFamiliarity with water disinfection principles and performance parameters (UV dose, CT concept)Ability to read P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical manualsValid driver's license and willingness to travel (80%)Preferred Qualifications:Experience with electro-mechanical systemsKnowledge of SCADA systems and remote diagnosticsOSHA safety certifications (LOTO, confined space, electrical safety)Experience working with municipal or industrial disinfection systemsCore Competencies:Advanced troubleshooting of electro-mechanical and disinfection systemsAttention to detail in calibration, validation, and compliance reportingCustomer-focused communication and training skillsAbility to work independently in demanding field environmentsAdditional InformationWork Environment:Field-based role across municipal and industrial treatment facilitiesExposure to high voltage equipment, ozone gas (strong oxidizer), and UV radiation systemsWork may include confined spaces, outdoor environments, and emergency response situationsPhysical requirements include lifting, climbing, and extended periods of standingAt Veolia, we realize diverse teams make smarter decisions, deliver better results, and build stronger communities.
