Paramedic Clinical Lead

Boulder Community Health is seeking a Paramedic Clinical Lead who assists Nurse Practitioners in the daily functions in the Urgent Care Departments and practices under the supervision, guidance, and instruction of an advanced Nurse Practitioner who is immediately available and physically present. They perform tasks and procedures within the scope of practice outlined in this job description and in line with Colorado Revised Statute 25-35-103. Additionally, this position administers certain classes of emergency medications in accordance with the Rules and Regulations in the same statute. The Paramedic Clinical Lead may only provide functions identified in this job description. Medical direction is provided by the Nurse Practitioner Liaison and Urgent Care Medical Director.

Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent is required; Higher degree or diploma preferred.
• Current certification in the State of Colorado as a Paramedic
• NREMT
• BLS through the American Heart Association
• ACLS Provider through the American Heart Association
• One year of experience as an EMT-P required.

Responsibilities:

• Assist NP in utilizing department flow and patient placement throughout Urgent Care Department
• Maintain competence in documentation and care of patients
• Utilize SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation) for communication
• Able to cover desk coordination and function tasks for communication, notifications, order entry support
• Perform the following technical skills:
• Vital Signs
• Oxygen Administration, BLS airway adjuncts
• Assist in airway management
• CPR
• IV initiation and removal on all ages
• Initiation of crystalloid fluid via IV, medication drip, and electrolyte infusions as specifically authorized in this Job Description
• Splinting and wound care including application of topical anesthetic, wound irrigation, preparation of dressings and steri-strips
• Patient specimen collections (nasal swabs, throat swabs, point of care monitoring, etc.)
• Suture/staple removal
• Medication administration of medications listed herein are considered to be within the scope of the ED Medic’s Colorado Paramedic Certification and may be administered as ordered, unless otherwise stated in this Job Description
• Trains new employees regarding organizational policies, procedures, and systems to administer patient care.
• Understands CLIA, OSHA, and Joint Commission regulations and can train new employees regarding these regulations.
• Understands and trains employees regarding Corporate Compliance regulations.
• Establishes a safe working environment through the understanding of common safety hazards and precautions.
• Develops and maintains department quality control/assurance program.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, physicians, and the public.
• Interprets, adapts and applies written guidelines and procedures to standard work practices.
• Coordinates clinical staff scheduling.
• Provides input to Clinic Manager for performance evaluations, promotions, disciplinary actions, etc., for clinical staff.
• Assists in Interviews and selecting candidates.
• Assists training new hires to our specific clinic and processes.
• Coordinates clinical staff training/in-service and monthly clinical meetings.
