Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians to develop and evaluate individualized patient care plans aimed at returning patients to optimal health.
• Provide direct bedside nursing care and carry out medical orders in an ICU setting.
• Delegate and coordinate nursing care tasks and assignments to ancillary personnel, including Nurse Assistants and Patient Care Associates.
• Identify and facilitate ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with appropriate resource personnel and participating in planning conferences.
• Integrate evidence-based knowledge into clinical practice and serve as a team leader to ensure appropriate patient placement and assignment delegation.
• Precept and mentor new employees and students; teach and guide professional and ancillary personnel.

Required Qualifications

• Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.
• Ability and willingness to float to the Emergency Department and Step-Down unit as needed.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required.
• Current ACLS certification required.
• Current NIHSS certification required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• TCAR, TNCC, CCRN, or SCRN certification.
• Prior travel nursing experience.
• Neurosurgical experience.
• Open heart experience.
