Nuclear Medicine Team Leader

10 Martin Ave Naperville, IL 60540, USA Current Illinois State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners license. Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Minimum of two (2) years of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred. Previous leadership, supervisory, or preceptor experience preferred. Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively lead a team while maintaining exceptional patient care and professionalism. Clinical Responsibilities Review patient history and physician orders to ensure the appropriateness of prescribed procedures. Prepare and educate patients regarding imaging procedures to minimize anxiety and promote cooperation. Administer radiopharmaceuticals and medications in accordance with physician orders and scope of practice. Operate nuclear medicine imaging and radiation detection equipment to perform diagnostic procedures. Position patients appropriately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Evaluate image quality and ensure studies meet diagnostic standards before submission for physician interpretation. Follow all radiation safety principles, infection prevention protocols, and departmental policies to minimize exposure and maintain a safe environment. Monitor patients throughout procedures and respond appropriately to medical emergencies, including performing venipuncture and Basic Life Support (BLS) when necessary. Maintain accurate patient documentation and comply with HIPAA, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements. Assist with staffing coverage at other clinic locations and departments as needed. Leadership Responsibilities Provide daily leadership, guidance, and support to Nuclear Medicine staff while fostering a positive, collaborative work environment. Coordinate daily workflow, patient scheduling, and staffing assignments to optimize efficiency and patient care. Serve as the primary clinical resource for staff by providing education, mentoring, coaching, and ongoing competency development. Assist with onboarding, orientation, and training of new employees. Monitor department productivity, quality metrics, and patient satisfaction, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, accreditation, and organizational standards related to radiation safety, infection prevention, and quality assurance. Coordinate equipment maintenance, quality control testing, and service requests to ensure optimal equipment performance. Monitor inventory levels of radiopharmaceuticals, supplies, and department equipment, assisting with purchasing and cost control initiatives. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and leadership to support efficient department operations and exceptional patient outcomes. Assist leadership with employee performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and staff recognition. Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and staffing recommendations as requested. Address patient concerns and assist with service recovery efforts in a professional and timely manner. Support departmental audits, accreditation surveys, and quality improvement initiatives. Provide leadership coverage during the absence of the department manager or director. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the organization's mission and patient care philosophy. Compensation Starting pay is $42.75 per hour , with compensation commensurate with experience, education, certifications, and leadership experience.
