Managing Director - Tax Exempt Service

Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking a Managing Director - Tax Exempt Service on behalf of our client, a nationally recognized executive compensation consulting firm. This senior leadership role is responsible for advising large, mature, and highly recognizable tax-exempt organizations-both private and public-on executive compensation, compliance, and governance matters. The ideal candidate brings deep industry experience, a strong book of business, and a growth-focused mindset to help expand the firm's market presence.


Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a trusted advisor to tax-exempt institutions on executive compensation strategy and regulatory compliance.
  
  
• Manage a book of business ideally totaling up to $3 million, while contributing to new business development.
  
  
• Provide expert-level consulting and, when needed, serve as an expert witness.
  
  
• Lead and mentor teams, fostering strong collaboration and professional development.
  
  
• Maintain a high level of client service and build long-term relationships with boards and leadership teams.
  
  
• Stay informed on emerging trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in the tax-exempt compensation space.
  
  

Requirements include:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (JD, MBA, etc.) preferred.
  
  

Experience:

• ~20 years of experience in compensation consulting, specifically focused on tax-exempt clients.
  
  

Skills:

• Strong consulting and advisory skills
  
  
• Business development and revenue growth experience
  
  
• Excellent communication and executive presence
  
  

Certifications:

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCP, CPA, CECP) are advantageous
  
  

Knowledge:

• Deep understanding of IRS regulations, Form 990 disclosures, and tax-exempt governance practices
