Shipping Supervisor

The Shipping Supervisor   is a leadership position responsible for managing the day-to-day production of a specific area of the mill with the goal of production running at 100% efficiency. This position supports production process improvements and the production teams with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and efficiency. The Manager relies on leadership abilities, in conjunction with knowledge of OSB production processes and a continuous improvement/preventative maintenance mindset in order to support and promote excellence as established in the company vision, mission and values. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Leading and demonstrating the importance of safety to all shipping team members.
  • Communicating to team members that compliance to all safety practices is mandatory.
  • Housekeeping in the shipping end, as well as making rounds on a regular basis.
  • Assisting members in maintaining the packaging quality in the finishing end.
  • Conducting final inspection of all finished products in the warehouse ensuring it is up to company and customer standards.
  • Maintaining regular contact with the mill, this may include evenings and weekends from time to time depending on operational demands.
  • Recordkeeping through time books, logbooks, production reports, down-time and equipment breakdown reports.
  • Coaching and training in conjunction with the Production Team Leaders to ensure all team members are aware of the location of fire equipment and are familiar with the proper firefighting procedures to fight various types of fires.
  • Ensuring all new employees in the shipping end have been trained in the safe operation of plant equipment based on company standards.
  • Providing leadership, direction and discipline as required.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, business, procurement or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent computer and math skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of team processes and ability to model, encourage and influence team behavior and decision making.
  • Preferred to have planning and project manage skills
