Job Title: OR Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Acute Care Duration: 16-week contract Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 9 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years working in the OR License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Circulator experience Description: We need OR RNs who can circulate various service lines. Service lines include Orthopedics, General Surgery, Urology, ENT, GI, Spine, Ophthalmology, and Podiatry. Candidates should have experience with orthopedic total joints, trauma, sports medicine, laparoscopic and open procedures. Familiarity with upper extremity procedures, endoscopic, and open surgeries is required. Candidates should be prepared to work with pediatric patients in ENT settings. Experience with colonoscopies and EGDs is a plus for GI procedures. Experience in spine surgery, including ACDF and lumbar fusions, is necessary. Candidates should also be comfortable with cataract surgeries. Experience in podiatry procedures similar to sports medicine is beneficial. The ideal candidates have a background in small community hospital settings with call experience. On call, candidates may be the only OR RN on site. Experience in GI is a perk, though not required. Candidates will receive training in ophthalmology as needed. Orientation for candidates with relevant experience is limited to three days. The OR RN will apply nursing knowledge and skills to deliver high-quality, compassionate care. Registered Nurses will assess patient needs and develop care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. Candidates will provide direct care and evaluate patient progress throughout the surgical episode. The role involves promoting patient comfort and providing emotional support in a healing environment. RNs will be expected to educate patients and families on self-care post-hospitalization. Candidates must motivate patients and families through effective teaching and communication. Documenting education provided and patient responses is essential for this role. The RNs will systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. They will engage in self-evaluation of their practice and seek professional development opportunities. Nursing practice should foster meaningful connections with patients and families. Candidates will demonstrate skills in medication administration and interventions. Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is anticipated in this role. Required tasks will involve potential contact with blood and bodily fluids.
