About the job: Kent is looking for experienced Mechanical Commissioning Technicians for a project in Ingleside, Texas. Mechanical Commissioning Technician to support the safe inspection, preparation, start‑up, testing, and turnover of mechanical equipment and systems for an energy project in Ingleside, Texas. The role performs field commissioning activities on rotating equipment, static equipment, piping, and packaged systems while coordinating closely with Construction, Engineering, Operations, vendors, and other commissioning disciplines. Skills and Responsibilities: Responsibilities: Execute mechanical pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities in accordance with approved procedures, drawings, specifications, permits, and system priorities. Perform walkdowns and verify installation completeness for pumps, compressors, turbines, fans, blowers, vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, piping, valves, filters, utility systems, and packaged equipment. Verify equipment alignment, lubrication, preservation, cleanliness, rotation, guards, supports, fasteners, strainers, temporary items, and mechanical readiness before start‑up. Support piping‑system flushing, blowing, cleaning, leak testing, drying, reinstatement, inerting, and line‑up activities as assigned. Verify valve installation, orientation, accessibility, packing, travel, tagging, and position; support manual and powered valve functional testing. Assist with uncoupled and coupled runs, bump checks, equipment start‑up, performance testing, vibration monitoring, and operating‑condition checks. Prepare equipment and systems for commissioning; verify boundaries, permits, isolations, LOTO, blinds, drains, vents, and readiness before work begins. Troubleshoot mechanical defects, leakage, vibration, overheating, abnormal noise, alignment, lubrication, and equipment‑performance issues; document findings and support corrective action. Coordinate with electrical and instrumentation teams during equipment, package, permissive, interlock, and integrated system testing. Verify vendor requirements and support vendor representatives during preservation, installation checks, start‑up, and testing of rotating and packaged equipment. Complete check sheets, test records, redlines, punch lists, equipment logs, and turnover packages accurately and on time. Identify, classify, and clear punch items while protecting system cleanliness, preservation, and turnover status. Support shift handovers, daily planning, progress reporting, start‑up activities, and system handover to Operations. In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad‑hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: High school diploma or GED required; mechanical trade school, apprenticeship, associate degree, or equivalent technical training preferred. Recognized millwright, pipefitter, industrial mechanic, rotating‑equipment, or related trade qualification preferred. Typically 5 or more years of industrial mechanical experience, including commissioning, start‑up, installation, or maintenance in LNG, oil and gas, petrochemical, refining, power, or similar facilities. Working knowledge of pumps, compressors, turbines, fans, valves, piping systems, vessels, heat exchangers, lubrication systems, and packaged equipment. Ability to read P&IDs, isometrics, general arrangements, equipment drawings, line lists, data sheets, system boundaries, and vendor manuals. Hands‑on experience with precision measurement, alignment, bolting, torqueing, lubrication, leak testing, and mechanical troubleshooting tools. Knowledge of mechanical completion, system cleaning and reinstatement, pressure and leak testing, LOTO, permit‑to‑work requirements, and OSHA safe‑work expectations. Current OSHA 10/30, NCCER, TWIC, first aid/CPR, or other site credentials preferred or must be obtained as required by the project. Must be able to satisfy site access, background screening, drug and alcohol testing, and fit‑for‑duty requirements. Able to work outdoors, climb stairs and ladders, enter controlled areas, lift and carry tools, and work days, nights, weekends, or rotating shifts as the project req Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing. Prepare accurate shift reports, test records, punch‑list updates, and turnover documentation. Coordinate effectively with Construction, Operations, Engineering, vendors, and other commissioning disciplines. Behavior/ Core Competencies: Demonstrates a strong safety mindset and the courage to stop work when conditions are unsafe. Works collaboratively in a multi‑discipline, fast‑paced commissioning environment. Takes ownership of assigned systems, follows through on commitments, and escalates issues promptly. Applies a methodical approach to troubleshooting and verifies work before equipment is released. Adapts to changing priorities, system boundaries, schedules, and shift requirements. Maintains high standards of quality, housekeeping, and care of tools and test equipment.
