Accounting Assistant III

Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $19.33 - Midpoint: $24.18 (Hourly N5) Department/Organization: 502702 - Campus Financial Affairs Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm Note to Applicants: Position is eligible for hybrid work subject to University policy . Job Summary: The Accounting Assistant III maintains accurate financial records. Provides accounting and bookkeeping support. Assists University staff in understanding industry standards, current laws, and university policy as it relates to the financial affairs of the University. Provides guidance, trains, and/or may supervise entry-level Accounting Assistants. Additional Department Summary: Works with the Director of Financial Affairs and Accountant II in the Capstone College of Nursing to oversee the accounting and budgetary responsibilities for the college. Maintains financial ledgers and spreadsheets. Prepares monthly grant reconciliation reports. Prepares faculty and student Personnel Action forms. Assists with onboarding tasks for new faculty and student hires. Assists with numerous other tasks as necessary. Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR associate's degree and two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR bachelor's degree. Skills and Knowledge: Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and customer service skills. Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic setting. Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports. Ability to work at a rapid pace with numerous interruptions. Ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, and adaptability. Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to work independently, but think and plan strategically as part of a team. Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, and Outlook. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with reconciling budgets (state and/or grant funds). Experience using specific UA systems (Banner, Concur, Everest, Slate, etc.) and knowledge of the University's financial accounting, purchasing, and travel policies and procedures.
