This on-call position is a member of an outstanding nursing and direct care staff and plays a vital role in providing person-centered care and support in a safe environment for up to forty-nine (49) elder residents. What you will be doing Provide high quality care to assisted living home residents in the Juneau Pioneer Home in a warm, supportive, and caring manner. This position provides clinical and medication administration to residents and clinical support to the care teams. Focus will be on quality resident care, the growth, development, and empowerment of health care teams, and the promotion of assisted living philosophy and statutes. The working environment is in the Juneau Pioneer Home, an assisted living home at 4675 Glacier Hwy, Juneau, Alaska, located near Twin Lakes with views of mountains, Gastineau Channel, and local wildlife. Working environment The home is Eden Alternative facility where interaction with plants, flowers, and pets such as cats, dogs, fish, and birds is common. Medicine and Dentistry: Knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of injuries, diseases, and deformities, including preventive health-care measures. Physical Strength and Agility: Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time; ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work. Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions. Other job information This position is in support of the Pioneer Home, which is a 24-hour facility. This Pioneer Home is an Eden Alternative facility, where the environment includes contact with plants, flowers, and pets including cats, dogs, fish, and birds. Employees of the Pioneer Home receive continual or regular screening for tuberculosis, criminal history and for COVID-19 as required by the facility. Qualifications NURSE 2: Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska; AND EITHER: Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Nurse I with the State of Alaska; OR One year of entry level experience as a Registered Nurse. Examples include prior service as a Nurse I, Corrections Nurse I, or Psychiatric Nurse I with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer. Substitution: Combinations of prior training and experience as a Registered Nurse in other nursing specializations will be evaluated for comparability on a case-by-case basis. Special Note: Applicants who have or obtain a temporary permit may report for duty; however, the job offer will remain conditional for a timeframe not to exceed six months, pending proof of licensure during the initial probationary period. Some positions may require fingerprinting, background checks, or proof of free from active pulmonary tuberculosis at the time of hire. These requirements will be indicated at the time of recruitment.
