School Nurse

To assist in providing a safe and healthful environment for all students and school personnel and to work with other agencies and the community in providing a complete and coordinated network of school health services.

Oversees health services in all district schools

Provides nursing care for staff and students in cases of injury or acute illness using the nursing process in accordance with professional standards, district policy and state and local mandates

Identifies school health problems and recommends an appropriate course of action

Provides orientation and supervision of Health Aides, substitute Health Aides and RN's

Conducts follow-up of accidents and illnesses and implements emergency care procedures

Takes prescribed action relative to delinquent physicals and immunizations

Completes medical reviews for special education evaluations

Participates in multidisciplinary team conferences and teacher support team meetings

Supervises the maintenance of all District health records and state reporting

Provides inservice education to school personnel

Participates in the evaluation of school health programs

Assists in vision and hearing screening and follow-up

Develop individual student care plans in collaboration with parents and physician

Prepares and submits reports to the Superintendent and State Board of Education

Authorizes exclusion and re-admittance of students with infections and contagious diseases

Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned

Qualifications: Current PEL or Eligibility for Short-Term Approval and qualifications as set by the State Board of Education and the School Code

Salary: Per terms of the WEA Professional Agreement 2024-2029
