Combined Cycle Specialist - I&C Specialist Company: Tampa Electric Company Location: Tampa, Florida Shift: 12 Hr. X 7 Days Job Summary: The Combined Cycle Specialist (CCS) reports to the Superintendent of Generation and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of plant equipment and systems. The CCS monitors plant conditions, ensures compliance with NERC standards and environmental permits, and follows water‑management guidance. The position requires the ability to participate in emergency response activities. Responsibilities Ensure safe work practices and station safety programs are followed, in compliance with Corporate/Department policies. Complete all required training and assessments within the allocated time for each position step. Participate in emergency response training (Confined Space Rescue, Hazmat, Incipient Fire, First Aid/CPR). Perform all operating duties across Power Block, Steam Plant, Rover, and Control Room, including accurate rounds, turnovers, HEC procedures, unit/equipment startups, shutdowns, and repair tasks. Execute maintenance assignments at a journeyman level within the CCS’s core craft skill; assist other CCSs with tasks beyond core skill when safe and feasible. Support Continuous Improvement initiatives from Operational Excellence Programs (ownership of area assignments, electronic logs, enhanced rounds). Maintain open communication with peers, support staff, and management. Support company and station goals and ensure Energy Control Center personnel are up‑to‑date on equipment problems, system restrictions, and reliability issues. Complete turnover logs, incident reports, accident reports, environmental incident reports, and the capability report. Respond to emergencies such as personnel injuries, fires, ammonia release, and bomb threats, following documented policies and procedures. Apply knowledge of HEC (LO/TO) procedures, confined space requirements, burn permit requirements, and process hazards. Demonstrate good housekeeping practices. Perform additional duties as assigned. Storm Duty Requirements All team members must participate in response/recovery activities related to emergencies or disasters to maintain service for TECO customers. Participation includes normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be provided according to company rules and procedures. Responding to storms is a condition of employment. Education & Experience Education: Required: Valid High School Diploma or GED. Preferred: Two‑year technical degree or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Experience: Required: Minimum of four (4) years of related journeyman‑level work experience in a large industrial complex, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment in I&C. Must include preventative, predictive, and repair maintenance. Equivalent military trade training or apprenticeship may be considered. Work Conditions Exposure to high temperature environments, ambient temperatures and the elements. Work alone in assigned areas, including confined spaces and high places. Ability to hear speech via radio and face‑to‑face, as well as alarms. Visual acuity of at least 20/30 in one eye and 20/50 in the other, with or without glasses. Ability to climb and descend fixed ladders, up to twenty flights of stairs, with balance and coordination. Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods. Ability to perform physical work while bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs., and carrying up to 20 lbs. Wear various respiratory devices (half‑face, full‑face, SCBA, supplied air respirator) and other PPE. Exposure to EMF fields, microwaves, and gamma radiation in certain areas.
