LPN School Nurse

Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) will provide appropriate nursing care as directed by an RN within the school setting, specifically at Chambers Prairie Elementary. This role involves performing therapeutic procedures, gathering and reporting patient data, and ensuring student health needs are met during school hours. The LVN/LPN must work within established policies and collaborate effectively with the healthcare and educational team. This position requires licensure and experience to support a safe and healthy environment for students. Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care and therapeutic procedures as directed by a Registered Nurse.
• Gather and report health data and observations accurately.
• Perform age-appropriate nursing interventions consistent with school health policies.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers to support student health.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with regulatory and organizational standards.
• Remain on campus during working hours and breaks while students are present.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Washington State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or compact LPN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or as required.
• Minimum of one year nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to perform clinical nursing duties in a school environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in pediatric or school health settings.
• Comfort with emergency care protocols and medication administration.
• Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams in educational settings.

Special Considerations:

• Must remain on campus during breaks while students are present; no leaving campus allowed.
• Work environment is a school setting requiring sensitivity to child safety and confidentiality.
• Compliance with school district policies and procedures is mandatory.

Scheduling:

• Monday through Friday, 8:10 AM to 3:10 PM, 7 hours per day.
• Total of 35 billable hours per week.
• Day shift position aligned with school hours and calendar.
