Barnsley Resort is a destination retreat located in Adairsville, GA, about an hour north of Atlanta and an hour south of Chattanooga. The resort offers more than 16,000 square feet of versatile event space designed for productive meetings, corporate retreats, and dynamic team-building experiences that take advantage of expansive outdoor areas. With the addition of the Inn at Barnsley Resort and Georgian Hall, the property hosts events of up to 150 rooms and 190 guests. Barnsley Resort combines a luxury environment with elevated guest services to provide memorable and successful gatherings for groups of varying sizes and spectacular weddings & special events. Role Description: The Director of Catering & Conference Services is a full-time, on-site leadership role based at Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, GA. This role oversees all catering and conference service operations, including the planning, coordination, and execution of meetings, weddings, and special events. Daily responsibilities include managing client relationships, conducting site visits, developing proposals and contracts, and collaborating with the Food & Beverage and Sales teams to ensure seamless event delivery. The director leads and mentors the catering and conference services team, oversees event logistics, monitors budgets and revenue goals, and maintains high standards of guest satisfaction. This role also collaborates with resort leadership to develop strategies that enhance the event experience, drive group business, and support overall resort performance. Responsibilities: Demonstrated expertise in Catering Sales and Catering operations, with a strong track record of planning and executing successful events. Comprehensive knowledge of Food & Beverage service, menu planning, and banquet operations in a resort or hospitality environment. Strong Sales and business development skills, including prospecting, negotiating, and managing contracts to achieve revenue targets. Exceptional Customer Service skills, with the ability to build positive client relationships and resolve issues efficiently. Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and coordinating with departments such as Rooms, Culinary, and Finance. Excellent organizational, time management, and project coordination skills, with attention to detail across multiple concurrent events. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present proposals and lead client meetings. Proficiency with event management software, CRM tools, and standard office applications (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Previous experience in a resort, hotel, or conference center environment at a managerial or director level is strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
