Site: The General Hospital Corporation Per Diem position at MGH Main Campus, Boston. Schedule Requirements: Must be in person Wednesday Full Days and Monday Afternoons; a hybrid schedule is available for other days. Entry Level LICSW Pay Rate: $44.34 per hour. Job Summary HOPE: Harnessing support for Opioid and substance use disorders in pregnancy and early childhood. Responsibilities The Clinical Social Worker will serve as an integral member of the HOPE Clinic, a multi-disciplinary outpatient clinic for pregnant and postpartum people with SUD and their families. The position provides therapy/counseling, case management, and acts as the HOPE Clinic liaison to the Department of Children and Family (DCF). The Clinical Social Worker also provides continuity for HOPE Clinic patients admitted to the inpatient setting by working closely with the Addiction Consult Team, inpatient obstetrics, and newborn medicine teams. The incumbent delivers clinical services that address psychosocial, environmental, age‑specific, and cultural issues to maximize emotional, social, and physical wellbeing and to facilitate effective use of health care and community resources. Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans for patients and families. Provide psycho‑education, motivational intervention, and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques in an outpatient setting. Provide support and psycho‑education around attachment and parenting skills. Conduct safety assessments for families in collaboration with a multi‑disciplinary team. Offer case management for patients and connect them with appropriate community resources. Ensure continuity for patients who are admitted to the hospital by communicating with the patient and the care team in the inpatient setting. Serve as a liaison to the Child Protection Team and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) for the HOPE Clinic team. Serve as a liaison from the HOPE Clinic to external community partner organizations. Help ensure and coordinate safe and successful transitions in care. Create a Recovery Portfolio/Plan of Safe Care with patients prior to delivery and update safety planning as indicated. Supervise social work fellows and students who rotate through HOPE Clinic. Other duties as assigned. Essential Functions Provides psychosocial assessments of patients and families with social, emotional, interpersonal, and/or environmental issues. Formulates biopsychosocial assessment, disposition, and treatment plans. Collaborates with other professionals to evaluate patients’ medical or physical condition and assess client needs as part of the interdisciplinary team. Monitors, evaluates, and records client progress according to measurable goals described in the treatment and care plan. Qualifications Education Master's of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program required. Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted. Licenses and Credentials Massachusetts Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) required. Experience Clinical experience in a medical setting, 2‑3 years required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrates proficient clinical judgment and application of professional values and ethics. Proficient in formulating assessments of risks, crisis intervention, psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and timely documentation. Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and innovation in advocating for clients while maintaining professional boundaries. Proficient working knowledge of internal and external resources and refers appropriately. Provides a range of evidence‑based interventions. Advocates, coordinates, and communicates treatment plans with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team. Incorporates social sensitivity. Utilizes supervision and consultation regularly and appropriately. Seeks assistance with complex cases and situations in a timely manner. Engages in quality improvement projects and uses data to measure progress. Facilitates skill‑based groups. Possesses knowledge, understanding, and ability to negotiate and work in a complex organization. Effectively communicates findings to a broader audience. Demonstrates mastery of a range of specialized clinical diagnoses and interventions. Conducts clinically competent high‑risk assessments, treatment plans, and interventions. Compensation and Benefits Pay Range: $34.13 – $49.63 per hour. Additional compensation may include differentials, premiums, bonuses, and recognition programs as applicable.
