Mobile Technician Leader

Manager, Truck MaintenanceA people leader based in the USA. Remote work is allowed only when the candidate resides in the designated city, state, or region. Approximately 50% of the role’s time is spent traveling to technician and customer locations. Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $98,300 to $147,500. The actual offer may vary based on location and the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. The position may also be eligible for an incentive program. Key Responsibilities Lead a team of 15+ mobile technicians, providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring. Conduct one‑on‑one meetings with direct reports to coach and help them resolve issues. Retrieve, review, and monitor metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, and safety records to analyze team productivity and recommend improvements. Travel frequently to technician and customer sites. Participate in or lead regular meetings with dispatch, parts, billing, and other functional teams. Ensure technicians comply with administrative and DOT policies, safety rules, and environmental regulations. Oversee onboarding activities, including equipment requests, new hire documentation, and system access. Conduct safety audits and Quality Control Inspections (QCIs) and implement safety processes. Manage a monthly budget and coordinate with market teams to set productivity goals. Coordinate scheduling with dispatch and sales to maintain a full daily schedule for each technician. Delegate work to technicians during unscheduled repair calls and coordinate internally. Participate in safety meetings, reinforcing the company's safety culture. Provide expert advice on technical, systems, and process topics to management and customers. Act as liaison between technicians and customers, facilitating problem solving and communication. Drive and manage change initiatives impacting technicians, including technology adoption and organizational changes. Maintain inventory levels of equipment, parts, and tools. Interview, select, and train new technicians. Operate a company‑issued vehicle for travel to sites. Perform preventive maintenance or parts repairs as needed to demonstrate proper practices. Conduct other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 6 years of experience in a related field (a master’s degree may substitute 4 years, a Ph.D. may substitute 1 year, or 10 years of experience may suffice). Minimum 1 year of experience in a management or lead role. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; 3‑year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review required. Coaching, mentoring, discipline, and communication skills essential. Knowledge of mobile work environment, maintenance practices, and processes. Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts and solve problems quickly. High sense of urgency and action orientation. Interpersonal Savvy : Builds rapport, uses diplomacy, and diffuses tense situations. Problem Solving : Identifies issues and develops practical solutions while respecting internal constraints. Drug Testing All candidates must clear a pre‑employment drug test. The position does not involve marijuana testing.
