Travel RN – Medical Surgical / Surgical Specialty Unit (Nights)

Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 48 Hours Guaranteed Preferred | Projected Start: December 14, 2026

Key Responsibilities

• Provide total patient care on a 20-bed Surgical Specialty Unit with a 4:1 patient ratio (5:1 with a patient care tech)
• Perform and manage procedures including ostomy management, ostomy irrigation, NGT placement and management, Foley catheter placement and maintenance, central line management, JP drains, and wound management
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and nutritional supplementation including TPN and G/J tube management
• Operate unit equipment including Alaris IV Pumps, CADD epidural, Alaris PCA, Pyxis Medication Dispensing Machine, telemetry, EKG, bladder scanner, wound vacs, capnostream machines, and SCD Pumps
• Document patient care using the Meditech electronic documentation system
• Float as needed to like medical/surgical/telemetry units including ortho neuro, med/tele, and CDU; adhere to scheduling requirements including every 3rd weekend and two Mondays and Fridays per 4-week scheduling period

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in good standing
• Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience
• Current BLS certification required
• Proficiency with post-operative patient care

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a high-paced surgical specialty or medical-surgical unit
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation system
• Experience with bariatric or colorectal surgical patient populations
• Prior travel nursing experience
