A Welder 2 or 3 is responsible for performing MIG welding, layout, tacking, fabrication and building functions in the manufacture of various products in accordance with product specifications.Candidates must successfully complete an internal welding test, which will be used to determine the appropriate welder level.Job Title: Welder 2 or 3 (based on internal weld test and assessment) Location: Sauk Rapids, MN Salary Range: Welder 2: $25.03 - $29.46/hour; Welder 3: $29.76 – $35.33/hour (non-exempt) (In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Incentive bonus opportunity: Freight Train Profit Sharing - Average of +$3.50/hour based on meeting goals Shift Schedule : 2nd shift: Monday - Thursday 3pm - 1am, Weekend shift: Friday – Sunday 5am - 5pm Shift Differential : 2nd shift - $1.50/hour, Weekend shift - $2.50/hourAs a Welder 2, you will:Perform these GMAW welds: butt – V – single bevel and fillet welds on carbon steelProduce welds that pass visual inspectionCan perform necessary repairs that pass adhere to MMC Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and CWI inspection requirementsDemonstrates the ability to weld the above weld joints with either .045 and/or.062 diameter wiresRead and understand MMC WPS's – select appropriate wire and shielding gas and weld within WPS weld parametersProficient in print reading and understands weld symbols and welding gaugesCan perform welds using following wire – solid – flux core and metal core as needed.Can weld carbon, stainless steel as neededPerform carbon arc gouging and recognize when any and all defects have been removedLayout and tack to specificationsUse grinder or other appropriate tools to clean, smooth out, grind or finish parts as neededUse various machines to fabricate, build, and design productsMonitor the production board and internal paperwork to perform tasks in the designated sequenceAccurately label all parts for routing to next operationPerforms prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as requiredEnter job data in production tracking systemUse crane, hoist, forklift or other material handling equipment to transport materials and product into and out of the work area as requiredMust be AWS GMAW certifiedWelders employed with Millerbernd will have the opportunity to complete all weld certification requirements including AWS certification within 14 days of employment – up to 3 attemptsWelders employed with Millerbernd Circular Products, Sauk Rapids are required to obtain and maintain ASME certification requirementsEnsure use of safe work procedures and wear all required PPEPerform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirementsAs a Welder 3 you will:All of the Welder 2 requirements and the following:Acts as a resident expert within the team on safety; typically, this role would not incur any safety violations or incidentsVisually inspects completed welds to determine acceptance to given specificationsAchieves a UT (ultrasonic testing) pass rate of 85% (calculated over a 6-month period from total number of structures welded)Achieves less than 10% visual testing failures (calculated over a 6-month period from total number of structures welded)No more than 0.5 inches per earned hourCan weld any section with little to no visual defectsReads, understands and executes Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS); assists less experienced welders with process interpretationCleans and prepares surfaces to be weldedJoins, fabricates and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniquesRegularly welds on material 3/16" or greaterFits (tacks) any size and complexityInterprets blueprints, specifications or diagrams to determine appropriate welding processCertified to weld on any area of the pole or cylinder/ring as the business requiresPerforms the welding and/or fabrication within the standard time; average productivity ?
