Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving manufacturing equipment and facility systems to support safe and efficient production operations. This role performs preventative and corrective maintenance, assists with equipment installations, identifies opportunities to improve equipment reliability, and works closely with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to minimize downtime.

The Maintenance Technician ensures equipment operates safely and effectively by applying mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills while following all company safety requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and SQF/ISO standards.

Essential tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities including inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and scheduled repairs.
  • Respond to equipment downtime issues and complete repairs in a timely manner to support production goals.
  • Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and improvements.
  • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting, wiring repairs, motor replacement, and component installation.
  • Replace machine components including bearings, belts, sensors, motors, valves, and other mechanical parts.
  • Maintain and repair production equipment including extrusion, thermoforming, and supporting manufacturing systems.
  • Inspect equipment and identify potential failures before they impact production.
  • Assist with building and facility maintenance activities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, preventative maintenance activities, and parts usage.
  • Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
  • Support spare parts inventory management and communicate part needs to leadership.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including OSHA standards, lockout/tagout requirements, and PPE expectations.
  • Support SQF/ISO compliance requirements and participate in audits as needed.
  • Assist with training and knowledge sharing with production and maintenance team members.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and equipment performance.
  • Perform other maintenance duties and projects as assigned.

Preferred education and experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification, associate degree, or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, industrial technology, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of industrial maintenance, manufacturing, or related technical experience preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical systems, electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance documentation.
  • Manufacturing experience in plastics, extrusion, thermoforming, or similar processes preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair equipment issues efficiently.
  • Knowledge of mechanical components, electrical systems, motors, drives, sensors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read basic schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintenance records.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and respond to production needs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with production teams.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation, work orders, and parts tracking.
  • Commitment to safety, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement.

Physical requirements and environment:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access equipment as needed.
  • Requires manual dexterity and visual ability to work with tools, components, and machinery.
  • Ability to work around moving mechanical equipment, electrical components, heat, noise, and manufacturing processes.
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
  • Work is primarily performed on the production floor and in maintenance areas.
  • May require occasional overtime, weekend, or emergency maintenance support.

This position is for our preventative maintenance team. This position will work day shift, 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
