We care for you. Position Hospital Manager — works daily to develop an efficient hospital support team by fostering trust, teamwork, and accountability. Partners with the Veterinarian to provide an efficient and profitable operation by driving revenue and managing costs while creating a hospital culture based on high-quality patient care and excellent customer service. Where Dix Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary hospital in Lincoln Park, Michigan, serving pets across Southeast Michigan since 2005. The hospital provides preventive, medical, surgical, orthopedic, dental, and emergency care, with seven-day operations and both scheduled and same-day appointments. Key Responsibilities Supervises staff within all hospital support departments; achieves and maintains labor goals. Hires and trains office and technical clinic support staff; responsible for new hire paperwork; orients and trains new clinic staff to the hospital and duties. Reviews work performance of direct reports, delivers feedback, resolves personnel issues, and discusses with the Regional Manager weekly. Conducts timely performance appraisals. Documents and reports accidents; files appropriate reports. Writes policies/procedures relating to all technical aspects of the hospital and presents for approval. Manages schedules for technical and administrative staff and coordinates with the DVM. Monitors Workforce Management for missed punches and overtime hours daily. Administers daily operations and ensures compliance with administrative responsibilities in partnership with PetVet Care Centers support teams. Monitors budgets, purchases equipment and supplies, and oversees facility maintenance. Handles local accounting functions; ensures daily financial information is accurate and oversees inventory management and billing processes when applicable. Oversees vendor contracts, invoicing, and license compliance; maintains licensure for DVMs. Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager. Qualifications (Required) Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Bachelor’s degree in business, health science, or related field strongly preferred. At a minimum, five years of direct office management experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience is required. Equivalent combinations of education, certification, training, or experience may be considered. Excellent customer service, communication, and time-management skills. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and applicable software; ability to work with diverse teams. Ability to manage schedules, budgets, and inventory; willingness to work some weekends and holidays. Ability to work with or around animals and potentially hazardous materials in a veterinary setting. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) or Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) preferred. Analytical skills for financial forecasting and hospital performance. Strong leadership and decision-making abilities; effective written and oral communication. Strategic planning and adaptability in a healthcare environment. Knowledge of compliance requirements for veterinary hospitals.
