Accounting Clerk Position Description The Accounting Clerk role at Cushing Terrell is a full‑time, on‑site position based in our Billings, MT office. Day to day, you will manage client billing cycles, review and maintain project records, and serve as a key link between the accounting team and project managers across the firm. Success in year one means owning the monthly billing process with confidence, keeping project records accurate and current, and building strong working relationships with project managers across the organization. Billings is one of Cushing Terrell's longest‑established offices and home to the majority of the accounting team, which means you will have the support you need as you get up to speed. Over time, this role offers real opportunities to expand your knowledge across different areas of project finance and firm operations. Position Salary Range* The expected salary range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000 annually. Required Qualifications** Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, a related field, or equivalent experience 3 or more years of job‑related accounting experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs) and Outlook Working knowledge of project accounting and accounting principles Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy Demonstrated ability to handle confidential data and meet deadlines while remaining approachable and responsive Strong verbal and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications** Experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC), or Professional Services industries Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint accounting software Did you know that some people hold back on applying to jobs if they don't meet 100% of the listed requirements? Position Responsibilities*** Prepare and manage monthly client billings across national, regional, and local project portfolios Review project records to verify accurate posting of hours to client and overhead accounts Evaluate and approve new project setups in the accounting system, confirming terms align with project contracts Maintain accurate, complete contract files and project database records for all active engagements Partner with project managers on job costing details, financial reporting, and expense reimbursement requests Serve as a resource between the accounting department and project teams, answering questions and keeping communication clear Things to Note *Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate’s years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job‑related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus. **Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
